Song of blades and heroes .. terrain project .. etc.

So our song of blades and heroes games have been going well.  As a group we are still in the noob stage to some extent but so far we've all had some fun, quick games and that has been very refreshing.  Nothing like getting in two full games of a mini game for a six person group, and then being able to do some BSing AND fire up a board game all in one night.  At least for our group that is saying something.

Anyway here are some pictures of my swamp docks project which is a work in progress.  I'm only about half way done on the docks themselves in terms of the amount of terrain I want after I get the rest built I'm going to touch it up more and weather it a little better.  Also  I'm still working on the pilings and I need to find the rest of the crates, barrels and boxes I have and get those all painted up. The next thing I'm going to be working on is trying to do up some swampy willow-ish trees.

Scenery looks great! And I really have to get in to this Dungeon World stuff... We have been playing Descent for some time now with our group. We're all long time RPG players (since 1987 or so),and have played 100 systems and games. Still the "long beards" seem to enjoy the simple Dungeon Hacking stuff anyway. I have planned to expand the Boardgame style hacking to RPG, but I want to keep the rules simple... not "Chivalry and Sorcery" stuff (wich is a great game) but something that keeps the flow of the game in the adventure itself. Dungeon World seems to be such a system. I'm gonna check it out. It's good to see you posting again! I hope you have the time to keep it up...

Dungeon World is pretty awesome. In my gaming group we have all been more wargamers than RPGers. That said most of us have 20+ years of off and on RPG experience. Several of us (myself included) have played quite a few systems. Perhaps not 100, but I'd say I'm pretty close to that and a few of the other guys are well past say the 40 game mark.

DW is a nice happy medium between say an old school (1st edition, OSRIC, labyrinth Lords) hack and slash and a new indie system. One could easily use minis if they wanted though there would be no specific rules for movement, etc. The minis would just be there as place holders to help with keeping the combat straight.

I myself don't use the minis because with our group it would distract people more than help.
